ANNOUNCES OPENING OF STORM OFFICE IN HOUSTON, IN RESPONSE TO DAMAGE IN TEXAS FROM HURRICANE IKE
Hurricane Ike slammed the Texas coast on Saturday, flattening houses, flooding hundreds of miles and leaving a wide trail of destruction in its wake. Ike has left about 2.4 million people in Texas without power. The storm has also idled about 25% of the country's crude oil production and fuel refining capacity. Ike is predicted to be the third-costliest storm to hit U.S. after Hurricane Katrina in 2005 and Andrew in 1992, with one estimate putting the damage at more than $10 billion.
In response to the damage in Texas, CJW has opened a storm office in Houston.
