Meet the Corporate Officers

Thomas Simoncic, President

Thomas Simoncic oversees VeriClaim's domestic business, including CJW and is charged with running the overall business, currently consisting of 800 colleagues and 165 offices. These responsibilities include financial, quality, personnel development and client relationships. He began his career in 1988 as a multi-line adjuster working for a major independent, spending much of his early career in the Midwest. Over the course of time, he held various management positions of increasing responsibility and territory. He then moved to another independent adjusting firm, where his last title was Division President of a Large and Complex Property GA Practice and Executive Vice President for Strategic Marketing & Business Development. Simoncic is associated with LEA, PLRB and NAPSLO. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a major in Finance from Central Michigan University.

Steven Hastings, CPCU, Senior Vice President

Steven Hastings joined CJW as Senior Vice President in June of 2015. Steve is responsible for overseeing the operational and overall business aspects of CJW. Steve began his career in the insurance claim business as a property adjuster in 1986. Throughout his career, he has held various positions of increased responsibility with both insurance carriers as well as with Third Party Administrators. He has also been involved in leading multi-line claim offices in both personal and commercial lines. Most recently, Steve was a Vice President of Operations with Sedgwick. Steve earned his CPCU designation in 1995 and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with a concentration in management.

Robin Pasternak, Chief Financial Officer

Robin Pasternak is the Chief Financial Officer of CJW. She joined CJW in1984. Prior to joining CJW, she was the Comptroller of Embry Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, Florida. Pasternak graduated from Husson College in Bangor with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting. After graduation, she joined the Air Force and went to officer training school where she became a Budget Officer. During her four years in the Air Force, she received a Master's Degree in Business Administration and passed the exam to become a CPA. She has managed CJW accounting department for 25 years and personally oversees the preparation and reconciliation of all the TPA bordereau each month.

Leah Pasternak, Manager of Financial Services

Leah Pasternak joined CJW in 2008, originally working with the CAT team on billing Hurricane Ike losses. She transitioned over into the accounting department and has been the lead on all London bordereaux reporting since 2009. Leah came over the property and liability side of the insurance industry after working in the Workman's Compensation field for over 6 years with a managed care company. She has her Bachelor's in Science Degree in Accounting from Strayer University. Leah has been handling all aspects of the accounting department here at CJW from escheated property monitoring and compliance, TPA licensing compliance, managing all loss funds for the London contracts, as well as remaining compliant with all London market changes and requirements, to name a few. She also manages and personally oversees the two CJW Accounting Assistants.

Brooks Lowe, Assistant Vice President / TPA Manager

Brooks Lowe is the Assistant Vice President and TPA Manager of CJW. Mr. Lowe joined CJW in 2012. Prior to joining CJW, he was a Regional Claim Manager for Zurich Insurance Company. Brooks graduated from Georgia Southwestern College, Americus Georgia, in 1982 with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree. Mr. Lowe has 32 years of experience in the insurance industry.

Robert Floyd, Vice President

Robert (Bob) Floyd has been in the adjusting business in excess of 45 years. Floyd began his career with Florida Farm Bureau in 1969 and became an independent adjuster in 1971 in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. He joined Dick Wiggins & Associates in 1979, which in turn became Cramer Johnson Wiggins & Associates in 1985. He held a number of positions including overseeing two insurance carriers as TPA. In 1993 he moved to the corporate office in Orlando, Florida to concentrate on the London Market and formation of TPA Operations. He has a Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Marketing from Troy University.

Jay Voelpel, CPCU, AIC, TPA Marketing Manager

Jay is a native of Orlando, Florida and has spent his entire professional career in the claims adjusting business. He is multi-line trained, holds a Florida Adjuster License, and is very active in a number of professional trade organizations, including former President of the Orlando Claims Associations. Jay graduated from Florida Southern College with a bachelor's degree in Business Administration / Marketing before continuing his professional study's, completing both the AIC, and CPCU designations. As Marketing Manager, Jay's focus is on client relations, as well as, work closely with all stakeholders to provide solutions on current programs and identify new opportunities

Gary W. Scott, TPA Advisor

As the former CEO, Gary Scott oversaw operations of Branch and TPA operations of CJW for nearly 25 years and continues to lend his expertise and relationship management skills to the firm. He brings over 45 years of independent adjusting experience to the firm. He began his career with the same national adjusting company as the partners of CJW and, upon his departure from that company in 1982, was Regional Manager of one of their largest regions. Prior to joining CJW, he was Vice President of Operations of another national adjusting company. Scott is an associate member of NAPSLO, AAMGA, LEA and PLRB. He has a Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Business Administration and Finance from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville.
